Chairman Introduction

Cho Tak Wong, founder and chairman of Fuyao Group, is an internationally renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. Over the past four decades, Fuyao has developed from a small township factory in southeast China into a large multinational industrial group, with dozens of manufacturing, marketing and research bases in 12 countries and 18 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China. Today, its products are used by auto brands such as Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc., and the group ranks first in the world in terms of market share. In recent years, Fuyao Group has received various awards and titles for its innovation capabilities, such as the China Quality Award (CQA), Demonstration Enterprise for Intelligent Manufacturing, National Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, National Enterprise Technology Center, and Green Factory.
Chairman Cho Tak Wong has always been adhering to the motto of “respecting the law and giving back to society” and the traditional Chinese business principle of “righteousness and profit promoting each other”, offering suggestions to improve China’s competitiveness in the global arena, and committing himself to social welfare. Up to now, Chairman Cho Tak Wong has donated a total of nearly RMB 20 billion.

In 2010, he donated 300 million Fuyao Glass shares held by himself to establish Heren Charitable Foundation, which is the first and only national non-public fundraising foundation approved by the State Council and founded with financial assets and stocks. Heren Charitable Foundation has funded nearly 260 charitable projects so far. In 2021, at the suggestion of Cho Tak Wong, Heren Charitable Foundation cashed in 200 million shares (RMB 10 billion) to establish Fuyao University of Science and Technology (tentative name) to cultivate high-quality applied research talents for the high-quality development of China. He has also received such honors as the National Outstanding Individual in the Fight against COVID-19, the Award for Contribution under the National Awards for Poverty Alleviation, Outstanding Private Entrepreneur in the 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up, the Award for Donations under China Poverty Eradication Awards, the Phoenix Award, which is the most prestigious prize in the global glass industry, and EY World Entrepreneur of the Year. He is recognized as the representative of Chinese entrepreneurship and China’s top philanthropist.
In addition, Cho Tak Wong proposed and promoted the establishment of China’s first talent exchange market and he is the first entrepreneur who introduced the independent director system in China. He is also the very first winner of an anti-dumping case after China’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as a pioneer in establishing a non-public foundation through stock donations.
